Dr. Kazi Mumtaz Huda, graduated from Chittagong Medical College Hospital (CMCH) in the year 1984. After completing her one-year internship at the CMCH she was posted to a district level government hospital in the Barisal division for two years.


She then joined as a Medical Officer under Transfusion Medicine Department at the Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH) in 1988. After three years of work experience she was selected for post-graduation course (DBS&T) in Transfusion Medicine at the then IPGM&R (BSMMU). Following the completion of her post-graduation she worked as a Medical Officer at the IPGM&R for another three years.


In the wake of 1995 she joined Mitford Hospital (SSMCH) as Assistant Professor. Two years later she moved to Nazran KSA, and joined as a Specialist & In-charge of Transfusion Medicine in King Khaled Hospital, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia (KSA) on lien under the Ministry of Health, where she has served for five years.


In 2001 she returned to Dhaka for a year to join as Assistant Professor under the Transfusion Medicine Department of Child & Mother Health Institute, Matuail, Dhaka. In 2003 she moved back to KSA as Specialist & In-Charge of Blood Bank at Riyadh Central Hospital (again on lien under the Ministry of Health). After two years there, in 2005 she finally returned to Dhaka to join as Assistant Professor of the Safe Blood Transfusion Department at Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH).


During the period of her service under the ministry of health of Bangladesh she has been trained in   Cytapheresis, Plasmapheresis, plateletpheresis and red cell antibody detection in blood transfusion department of Osaka University Hospital Japan and Quality Assurance for HIV and Viral Hepatitis, Blood Cold Chain Maintenance, Blood Transfusion service including TTI and Blood Component Preparation at National Blood Centre, Thai Red Cross Society, Bangkok Thailand by World Health Organization.


In 1997 she was selected as Associate Professor under the Directorate General (DG) of Health, and while waiting for her posting, she decided to move to Apollo Hospital as Specialist and Coordinator of the Transfusion Medicine Department where she has served since September 2007 to December 2020 and continued her Specialist position in transfusion medicine department of Evercare Hospital Dhaka till December 2022.After finishing her 2 years contract with Evercare Hospital Dhaka in December 2022, she has joined as a consultant in transfusion medicine department of Green Life Hospital, Dhaka.


In the year 2009 she has also completed the course and achieved the master degree in public health (MPH).


Dr. Mumtaz has 9 publications in several medical journals of Bangladesh and was recognized for her contribution to detecting a rare Bombay Blood Group in a patient admitted in Apollo Hospital Dhaka
