Prof.
M. A. Khan is former Head and founder of department of Hematology
& Bone Marrow transplantation center, Dhaka Medical College & Hospital,
Dhaka, an oldest and largest tertiary level Govt Hospital of the Country. Dr.
Khan qualified Post Graduate Fellowship (FCPS) in Hematology from Bangladesh
College of Physicians and Surgeons (BCPS) in 1999. He received FRCP (Edin) on
2010. He has more than 50 national & international publications with the
involvement in many research activities.
Prof.
Khan established Hematology department with 272 posts of different categories
in 10 medical institutions in Govt sector. He is the pioneer to establish BMT
center first ever in the country on 10th March, 2014. Under the leadership of
Prof khan 52 ( Auto & Allo-BMT) Bone marrow transplantations done
successfully at DMCH upto Feb,2020. He was directly involved in the development
of Hematology faculty in BCPS as well as Hematology (FCPS) curriculum. Prof
Khan also started MD(Hematology) course in Dhaka Medical College in 2009. On
Covid-19 pandemic situation before development of Covid-19 vaccination Dr. khan
has introduced Convalescent plasma Therapy in Bangladesh.
Prof. Khan retired from govt service on 27 th August, 2018 and after then he has completed further two years govt contact service in Dhaka medical College Hospital on 31/12/2020. He is most compassionate, kind hearted man of good personality and academician as well as eminent Clinician. Due to extraordinary leadership and grace he was holding the longest founder departmental head of hematology in Dhaka Medical College Hospital for last 20 years.
