Prof. Dr. Kamal M. Choudhury

Prof. Dr. Kamal M. Choudhury is a renowned veteran and experienced Pediatric Surgeon with immense exposure in pediatric urology. He did his basic education from St. Gregory’s High School and Notre Dame College before obtaining MBBS from Sir Salimullah Medical College & Mitford Hospital in 1983. He had extensive and elaborate surgical training in general and pediatric surgical departments for long 10 years in Dhaka Medical College Hospital. He obtained the distinctive post-graduation degree MS in Pediatric Surgery in 2001 from BSMMU. In the next year, he was accoladed with Fellowship in pediatric urology from Princess Margaret Children Hospital, Australia. In 2008, he had the Honor of Fellowship from American College of Surgeons (FACS).

During his tenure in government service under Ministry of Health, he worked with reputation in various positions in different medical college hospitals in Mymensingh, Rajshahi & Bogra. He availed voluntary retirement after completion of 25-years of service and joined BIRDEM in 2012 as associate professor and Head of the Department of Pediatric Surgery. In 2013, he had undertaken a post-doctoral Fellowship program for 1 year under the Tamil Nadu Dr. MGR Medical University in Chennai, India. During this period he worked as a Fellow in the Apollo Children Hospital, Chennai. Then he was aptly promoted to the position of Professor in Pediatric Surgery department in BIRDEM where he worked for 8 years.

After retiring from BIRDEM, Prof. Kamal M. Choudhury joined the Labaid Hospital as Senior Consultant and steered the department of Pediatric Surgery (2019 to 2024). From June 2024 he has joined Green Life Hospital Ltd as freelance practitioner. Prof. Dr. Kamal M. Choudhury’s professional services have garnered much praise and acclaim from the mass people. He has excelled in pediatric surgical skills with fine and kind cuts. He is regarded as a savant in various fields of Pediatric Surgery and Pediatric Urology among the pediatric surgeons.
