Associate Professor Dr. Md. Anwar Hossain, Cardiovascular and Thoracic Surgeon, graduated from Sir Salimullah Medical College. He joined the Department of Cardiovascular Surgery at the National Institute of Cardiovascular Diseases as an Assistant Registrar in 2001. Later, he completed MS (CV & TS) and was promoted to Assistant Professor. In 20 October 2025 he was promoted to Associate Professor.

He is an expert in the field of any type of Adult (CABG, Valve Replacement and Repair) and Congenital Cardiac Surgery including Surgical Correction of hole in the heart (ASD, VSD, PDA, AP Window), Surgical Correction of Complex Congenital Cardiac defects (total correction of TOF), different modalities of treatment of Coarctation of Aorta, single ventricle morphology, different types of palliative shunts , different types of total Anomalous Pulmonary Venous connection (TAPVC), AV Canal defects and Surgery for Ebstein’s Anomaly of Tricuspid Valve. He is regularly doing Beating Heart Coronary Artery Bypass Grafting (CABG) and Mitral, Aortic, Tricuspid Valve repair and replacement.

He also does Surgical Correction of Aorto-Iliac Disease and Abdominal Aortic Aneurysm with Y-graft, Peripheral Vascular disease, Varicose Vein, Arterio Venous Malformations in different parts of the body, Surgery for Carotid body tumors, Carotid Artery Aneurysm.

As a member of Comprehensive Cardiac and vascular team, he managed many complex scenarios especially retrieving emblazed devices used for PDA, ASD & VSD Closure and Simultaneous Surgical Correction of desired defects and also vascular and thoracic cases.

He has been working in the National Institute of Cardiovascular Diseases (NICVD) for two decades. He has many Publications in the National and International Journals. He participated in many National and International Seminars. He also attended many hands-on workshops. He is involved in teaching and training in cardiovascular and thoracic Surgery Residents and Fellows.
