Dr. Md. Faizul Islam is an Adult and Congenital Cardiovascular Surgeon who was endowed with fellowship in congenital Cardiac Surgery from Amrita Institute of Medical Science (AIMS), Kochi, Kerala, India. Sir HN Reliance Foundation Hospital and Research Institute Mumbai, India.

He also obtained fellowship from Fortis Escorts Heart Institute, New Delhi India. He is an expert in the field of any type of Adult (CABG, Valve Replacement and Repair) and Congenital Cardiac Surgery including Surgical Correction of hole in the heart (ASD, VSD, PDA, AP Window), Surgical Correction of Complex Congenital Cardiac defects (total correction of TOF), different modalities of treatment of Coarctation of Aorta, single ventricle morphology, different types of palliative shunts (BT, MBT, BDG, Potts shunts, Waterston shunts), different types of total Anomalous Pulmonary Venous connection (TAPVC), AV Canal defects and Surgery for Ebstein’s Anomaly of Tricuspid Valve.

He is one of the expert in doing MICS Paediatric Cardiac Surgery especially trans axillary approach of doing open Heart Surgery. He is regularly doing Beating Heart Coronary Artery Bypass Grafting (CABG) and Mitral, Aortic, Tricuspid Valve repair and replacement.

He also routinely doing Peripheral Angiogram and Angioplasty. He did nearly 5000 Adult and Congenital Cardiac Surgeries. He also does Surgical Correction of Aorto Iliac Disease and Abdominal Aortic Aneurysm with Ygraft, Peripheral Vascular disease, Varicose Vein, Arterio Venous Malformations in different parts of the body, Surgery for Carotid body tumours, Carotid Artery Aneurysm.

He has been working in the National Institute of Cardiovascular Diseases (NICVD) for nearly two decades. He has many Publications in the National and International Journals. He participated and presented Scientific Papers in many National and International Seminars at home and abroad. He also attended many hands-on workshops at home and abroad especially on Surgical Suturing practice, Micro and Macro Vascular Anastomosis, Advance Cardiac Surgical Life Support, Root Translocation, Arterial Switch operation and double Switch operation, Valve Repair, Perioperative Surgical Care, Double Outlet Right Ventricle (DORV) Repair in 3D Printed Heart.

He was Invited as an International Faculty in IACTSCON 2020 held in Ahmadabad, India, jointly organized by The Indian Association of Cardiovascular-Thoracic Surgeons (IACTS) and The American Association of Thoracic Surgery (AATS), The European Association of Cardiothoracic Surgery (EACTS) and the Australia & New Zealand Society of Cardiac and Thoracic Surgeons (ANZCTS). He was a Moderator in the Scientific discussion session on practical approach of Aortic Root Repair.

He was Invited recently as an International Faculty in PCSI 2022 held in Kolkata, India, organized by The Paediatric Cardiac Society of India. He was a Chairperson in the Scientific discussion session on Surgical Nightmares in Paediatric Cardiac Surgery. As a member of Comprehensive Cardiac team, he managed many complex scenarios especially retrieving emblazed devices used for PDA, ASD & VSD Closure and Simultaneous Surgical Correction of desired defects.
